DO YOU NEED HELP?

Take the first step—call us or visit one of our facilities. Together we will assess the level of care that best fits your needs at the time, and please be assured that anything you tell us will be held in the strictest of confidence.

FOR FAMILY, FRIENDS AND EMPLOYERS

Do you know or suspect someone you care about and/or employee has a problem with alcohol or other drugs? If we care about someone who drinks too much, uses illegal drugs, or abuses medications prescribed for them or others, it can be frightening, frustrating, and painful to see the results of those self-hurtful behaviors that cause health, relationship, school, employment and legal problems. But please know that no matter what the person who is abusing alcohol or other drugs says, you are not the cause of her/his alcohol or other drug use. However, although we can only change ourselves, sometimes what we do or say can help another want to make a change in her/his life, or to at least be willing to look at her/his behaviors and consequences.

As an employer, you have a right to intervene if you suspect an employee is abusing alcohol or other drugs because her/his behavior can negatively impact the employee’s safety, the safety of your other employees and your business overall. Confronting the employee constructively and consistently can only help. If you ignore the behavior, it will likely exacerbate. But if you are unsure as to how to manage the situation, do not hesitate to call NJIR.
